Vertiv, formerly known as Emerson Network Power, designs, builds and services critical infrastructure that enables vital applications for data centers, telecommunication networks, healthcare and commercial and industrial facilities.
Vertiv became a standalone business in 2016 and supports today’s growing mobile and cloud computing markets with a portfolio of power, thermal and infrastructure management solutions including the Chloride®, Liebert®, NetSure™ and Trellis ™ brands.
Today, Vertiv is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio (USA), has more than 20,000 employees, and more than 25 manufacturing and assembly facilities worldwide.
Vertiv’s product offerings include: Thermal Management (precision cooling), Power Management (UPS), Infrastructure Management (Racks, PDUs) and Services.
Vertiv is the leader in Thermal and Power Management products due to their continual efforts to recognize the changing needs of the marketplace and developing new innovative products to meet these changes. Their power and cooling gear can be found in data centers all over the world. Some of their key customers include Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon, America Movil, AT&T, China Mobile, Ericsson, Reliance, and Verizon.
They offer the expertise, the reliability, and the resources that only a global partner can provide. However, as a standalone business, Vertiv has more freedom to make business strategy and investment decisions, move more quickly like a startup, and focus on innovative solutions for their customers, including those in the growing cloud computing, mobile and IoT networks.
Prior to Vertiv, Emerson invested in this business throughout the 21st century, acquiring the outside plant and power business of Marconi in 2004 to expand its presence in the telecommunications industry; Knurr in 2006 to strengthen its offering of enclosure systems; Avocent in 2009 to add software and remote management capabilities; and Chloride in 2010 to extend its range of power solutions, particularly for industrial applications. Throughout this period, the business continually developed new critical infrastructure solutions that delivered higher reliability, increased efficiency and enhanced flexibility for critical technologies.
Emerson Network Power also pioneered in data center infrastructure management (DCIM) and integrated infrastructure. The Trellis DCIM platform was the first to use real-time data to enhance data center management and has been recognized as a leader in every DCIM Magic Quadrant published by Gartner. Emerson Network Power was also the first to offer an integrated row-based infrastructure solution and has worked with leading data center developers on the first fully modular freestanding data centers.
Today, under the new name Vertiv, these brands are pushed to new levels.
Vertiv believes in meeting their customers wherever they are. Currently they have 28 manufacturing and assembly locations, 255+ Service Centers and 14 Customer Experience Centers/Labs worldwide.
Since its independence from Emerson in December 2016, Vertiv doubled its workforce by adding new positions such as account managers, R&D muscle, data center commissioning unit, and global solutions teams. It also has over 3,135 Service Field Engineers and 415 Technical Support/Response Representatives. This employee expansion ensures that all customers have a direct line to the vendor’s executives, not only their key accounts. Traditionally, Emerson would let regional colocation players, big retailers, financial services companies, and other major enterprises be handled by local business partners.
Vertiv, formerly known as Emerson Network Power, has been a partner of E.B. Horsman & Son for over 20 years. Their depth of knowledge and breadth of reliable, innovative products (ranging from simple desktop applications to large industrial data centers) are unmatched in the industry. Our customers can rest easy knowing that Vertiv has global service centers and large technical support division located in every region of the world equipped to handle the toughest challenges.
