EnWave Corporation offers industrial-scale dehydration technology for commercial applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries. EnWave uses proprietary Radiant Energy Vacuum (“REV™”) technology to develop new methods for dehydrating food and biological materials. The REV™ dehydration processes and equipment offer flexible, efficient, and low-temperature processing. EnWave’s mission is to establish REV™ technology as the new global dehydration standard; it is faster and cheaper than freeze drying and provides better quality end products than air drying or spray drying.
EnWave’s technology dates back to 1996 with the development of the first prototype REV™ machine at the University of British Columbia for dehydrating food and nutraceuticals (food sources with extra health benefits). Since that time, the company has developed, produced, and sold commercial-scale, continuous machines for food dehydration and developed machinery for drying bulk biological materials and pharmaceuticals in vials.
Rather than an eWon Flexy they chose to install an eWon Cosy router. EnWave’s main challenge was its global customer base. EnWave’s engineers service customers from all over the world, which can pose challenges for the company and its clients in terms of cost and time management. When engineers travel overseas, that pulls them away from other projects that they are working on. Further, without remote access to equipment, customers had to wait for an EnWave engineer to be available to make an on-site visit to service the equipment.
EnWave chose the eWON Cosy because it offers easy-to-use and secure remote access to EnWave’s equipment. E.B. Horsman & Son’s PAC group demonstrated how to install and use the eWON Cosy, and how to connect it to Siemens Human-Machine Interface (HMI), a user interface that connects an operator to the controller for an industrial system. This made it easier for EnWave to control and service its systems for customers remotely.
“The eWon Cosy has reduced our service trips by 50%, which is valuable since we have customers around the world. We’re able to monitor the HMI and control the system remotely which is very important for troubleshooting. It’s a big cost saving in time and expenses for us and our customers appreciate the fast customer service we can provide.” – Senior Electrical Engineer at EnWave.
