Customer Service
Siemens MultiRanger family of products is used for monitoring level and pump control of municipal wet wells throughout the cities and towns of Western Canada. Since the early 1970s, Siemens has been a major partner in ultrasonic level measurement. This experience matters. The MultiRanger 200 ultrasonic level controller has been a star for decades however now it’s time to meet the better, easier-to-use, enhanced MultiRanger 200 HMI.
The MultiRanger has been a de facto standard for many municipalities and we know of many units still in operation for twenty years and more. Although many of these level controllers are still performing without any signs of wear, municipalities should be proactive and start considering an upgrade to the MultiRanger 200 HMI.
Ultrasonic level controllers are used in critical applications. If a MultiRanger were to fail it could pose health, safety risks, and costly downtime.
Technology has taken great strides in the last twenty years. You are not using the same television or computer you were using in 2000, so you probably shouldn’t be using the same critical application level controller. The new MultiRanger 200 HMI is designed to maintain a high level of reliability using new electronics that make everything more simplified for the end user.
It is the goal of our Process Instrumentation team to ensure that the market is aware of the new MultiRanger 200 HMI as a replacement of existing MultiRangers and for new projects.
As an exclusive representative of Siemens products in Western Canada, E.B. Horsman & Son has trained application specialists, field technical support, commercial support for pricing, and in-stock inventory to assist with any project or level/flow application.
E.B. Horsman can also provide operator training to help with the transition from the older units to the new ones. However, you will quickly see how easy it is to set up and troubleshoot applications with the new MultiRanger HMI! No need for the hand-held programmer!
Q: Is there extensive downtime when switching units?
A: The footprint is the same between the old MultiRangers versions and the 200 HMI. When switching the amount of downtime depends on the application and whether the tranducer needs to be replaced. However, a simple controller upgrade can usually be done in as quickly as 15-30 minutes with the new text-driven menus that simplify programming, commissioning, training, and maintenance.
Q: Can I use my existing tranducer?
A: Yes, as long as the existing transducer is fully functional the MultiRanger HMI is compatible with Siemens Echomax transducers.
Q: Do I need to use a hand-held programmer and know the P perameter code?
A: Hand-held programmers are a thing of the past! Programming time is now shortened and diagnostic capability is improved with the 4 push buttons and the text driven menus on the HMI which can be found on the face of the MultiRanger.
Q: What is the difference between the MultiRanger and HydroRanger?
A: There is no difference. The HydroRanger is the name of Siemens’ American version of the MultiRanger.
Q: Are there on-board diagnostics?
A: Yes, with the new improved HMI, customers can look at their echo profile, apply auto false echo suppression, and other diagnostic features just by using the text-driven menus.
