ABB announced the successful completion of its acquisition of Siemens low voltage NEMA motor business. The transaction was announced on August 11, 2022. They did not disclose the Financial terms of the transaction. The business employs around 600 people and generated revenues of approximately $63 million in 2021.
The acquisition of Siemens low voltage NEMA motor business is a strategic step aligned with ABB’s Motion business area’s profitable growth strategy. This acquisition not only reinforces ABB’s position as a prominent manufacturer in the industrial NEMA motor industry but also establishes a more robust platform for serving its global customer base.
ABB plans to reintroduce the line of horizontal and vertical induction severe duty and general-purpose motors under its brand ABB during the second quarter of 2023.
The global NEMA motor industry, roughly $2.7 billion in size, comprises industrial electric motors mainly used within North America. These electric motors are vital components used in various industries such as food and beverage, oil and gas, mining and aggregate, water, and wastewater, as well as applications involving the movement of air, liquids, and units.
