Are you a homeowner or business owner looking to make your property more eco-friendly while saving some money? We have fantastic news to share about the CleanBC Go Electric EV Charger Rebate Program for Homes and Workplaces. This initiative, funded by the Province of British Columbia and administered by BC Hydro, is here to help you take the leap into electric vehicle charging.
We’re thrilled to announce that starting on October 31st, 2023, the CleanBC Go Electric EV Charger Rebate Program for Homes and Workplaces is reopening its application window within BC Hydro’s service area. The Province of British Columbia has approved $6.59 million in funding for the fiscal year 2023/24, ensuring that all program offers are back on the table. Please be aware that funding is limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until it runs out.
Additionally, it is important to note that the funding from the Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) for condos and workplaces is nearing its limit and will no longer be accessible after October 31st, 2023. This funding operates on a first-come, first-served basis. So, if you submit your application by October 31 but miss out on the higher rebate amounts (up to $5,000 per charger instead of up to $2,000), your application will automatically be considered for the new provincial program funding, eliminating the need for a separate application.
Starting October 31st, 2023, townhomes will become eligible for both the EV Ready and EV charger standalone offers. Previously, only condominiums and apartments were eligible for these offers, so this change is a significant development. Townhome owners will no longer have to go through the Single Family Home program offer.
Effective October 31, 2023, there will be updates to the EV Ready stall requirement in the EV Ready Plan. Here are the key changes:
EV Ready means the parking space features an energized outlet with a cover that provides a final connection point in an electrical wiring installation capable of providing level 2 charging. The energized outlet with a cover must be installed within 0.5 meters to 1.5 meters of the stall and no more than 3 meters.
These updated EV Ready Plan requirements will be available online starting October 31, 2023, and will apply to all EV Ready projects submitted on or after that date. Get ready to embrace the future of electric vehicle charging with these exciting program enhancements!
